Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced MEP & Sustainability Manager to oversee the design and coordination of all Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) services and Sustainability requirements across our construction projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all building services are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance, while meeting programme and budget requirements.

This role will involve close coordination with design teams, subcontractors, and site management, and will play a key role in the successful delivery of our construction projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the design and coordination of all MEP activities on assigned projects

  • Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of LEED, BREEAM and NZEB Sustainability performance on projects including Contribute to BREEAM assessments and aid assessors for scoring

  • Health and safety with respect to the design and ensuring what is designed is safe for future maintenance and access.

  • Risk Assessment for design stage of projects, right through to evaluating contractors site method statements and SPA’s.

  • Responsible for managing consultant and subcontractor design input into D&B Contracts

  • Contribute to MEP Value engineering reviews and instigation

  • Manage the coordination of Utility Services connections on each project, by overseeing and tracking each utility from application, contributions payments,  installation and utility connection process from start to completion.

  • Lead and supervise M&E Coordinators who report directly to the MEP Manager, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth delivery of works

  • Review and manage MEP design information, ensuring it is fully coordinated and buildable

  • Liaise with consultants, design teams, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues

  • Work with the Estimating/Bidding team to assess MEP tenders on project opportunities

  • Input into various tender submissions, including raising clarifications, text associated with deliverables, reviewing technical content of proposed projects. Organising meetings with preferred M&E Sub-contractors, to ensure their tenders are compliant.

  • Oversee the procurement and appointment of MEP subcontractors

  • Monitor MEP works on site to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and regulations

  • Manage Quality planning and implementation on all project

  • Manage quality process including RFI’s, technical submissions and approvals tacking in compliance with performance specifications

  • Ensure all MEP works are carried out in line with project programme requirements by reviewing installation programs and comment on progress

  • Attend and lead MEP coordination and progress meetings

  • Work closely with the Project Manager / Contracts Manager to ensure overall project delivery

  • Review M&E Costing on projects including progress claim valuations, and request for variations and/or alternative options and to ensure compliance

  • Monitor quality of installations and ensure all works meet required standards

  • Manage the testing, commissioning, certification, and BCAR handover of MEP systems

  • Reviewing and advise on the content within O&M Manuals for sub-contractors to prepare for handover to the client.

  • Arranging for demonstrations of MEP systems to the client prior to handover.

  • Snagging and reviewing installations on site during the construction phase and for retention completion.

  • Implementing forensic surveys of existing MEP systems and advising on suitable and cost-effective solutions for relocating or maintaining on projects.

  • Ensure all relevant documentation (O&M manuals, as-builts, certifications) is completed for BCAR and handover

  • Promote and ensure MEP contractors compliance with the high standards of health & safety on site


Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or related discipline)

  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in a similar MEP / Building Services role within construction

  • Experience working on commercial projects (e.g. hotels, schools, pharma, offices, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of building services systems and installation processes

  • Experience in Design & Build Projects

  • Experience managing subcontractors, coordinating design teams, and supervising staff (including M&E Coordinators)

  • Experience in implementing and managing testing & commissioning plans on projects

  • Experience in working on live operational project environments

  • Good understanding of Irish building regulations and industry standards

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Full Drivers License

  • Valid Safepass and Manual Handling
